Sleep .... Om..... Roadburn...... Oh my!!!

So the mecca of stoner worship festivals have lined up the mecca of stoner bands to headline this years festival, YUP.... SLEEP are playing.... vol. 1, holy mountain, dopesmoker. This band IS stoner / sludge / doom in its purest form! I honestly cant imagine a better fitting band for the festival, oh and a little band called OM are playin too.

Having been to the festival 3 times and having seen some of the best and greatest of the scene, i can honestly say, i have never been more excited! once again walter and the roadburn team have pulled it out of the bag and only three bands have been announced!

current favourite album...

Finally got my copy of Horseback - Invisible Mountain delivered. Heard a small snippet of their stuff on Stonerobixxx about a month of so ago and was sold instantly and the 4 tracks on this album in no way disappoint.
To me the songs are what Earth would of jammed out if they had stuck to the Pentastar period and made heavier versions of Tallahassee. Its minimal, heavy, repetitive and droney with harsh black / death / whatever vocals complement the heavy psyche jams.

I hope there's more coming cause this is addictive!!!

but dont be pricks give the band some $$$

Upcoming from human disease promo, mainly at the unicorn camden which means FREE entry and cheap booze!

My boys slabdragger in their first headlining show. if you've not got a copy of their new album regress from holy roar check it out, total mind altering stoner riff collection on double lp! with support from wizard beard, who im VERY excited about finally seeing!
US riff titans with awesome uk support from astrohenge and dopefight. killer!
Pombagira album launch with 6 supports this is set to pummel you into submission!!
Dirty brighton weed Goliath's with killer support

Lewisham gig at the fox and firkin showcasing some local talent. All season pros on the local scene and heavy as fuck, well worth a look even if you haven't heard them before!

Ultra excited about this one:
Saw the last half of their set at roadburn and it was hands down the best sounding performance of the festival! MIND BLOWING!

Say goodbye to cathedral in style
Gonna be a real shame to see them go, always been a huge presence on the uk doom scene! Make sure u get to this!

Couldnt find a poster but PENTAGRAM hit london on the 9th december!

All dayer in camden in a week or so, dirty lineup

Last one
KILLER lineup in brixton in october.

So ... 3 posts down an I'm already lying!!

So according to Mr Iommi the Internet fan-fare that's happened around the rumoured reunion is all hot air!! The quotes from a Birmingham newspaper printed of him where apparently misquoted and out of date....

Utter disappointment!

Call me a idiot but I still think there's something in this... Hopefully more to come.

Mastodon release single off "The Hunter"

After releasing "Black Tongue" into the wilds of the interweb about a few months ago Mastodon have now posted another song, "CURL OF THE BURL"
This time the first official single that will be released off the new album "The Hunter" (out 27th September through Reprise records)

Listen here for song.
Brann Taylor said about the new album "we're aiming for a super heavy Led Zeppelin sound" and certainly after the prog mastery of the 2009 album "crack the skye" this certainly has a stripped down heavy rock vibe to it.

Great chorus, Big riffs and accessibility .... is this mastodon's mainstream radio hit?

Song available now through itunes here

FIRST POST: SABBATH REUNITE? MELVINS IN THE UK!

I start my tasty little blog with news from my two favourite bands... EVER!
a promising start!

First up the godfathers of all that's down-tuned, snail-paced, heavy and UGLY! Black Sabbath!
The original members; Bill Ward (drums), Geezer Butler (bass), Ozzy Osbourne (vocals) and riff lord Tony Iommi (guitar) are reuniting! Early days yet but talk of dates and possibly new material!!
The surprise being that since the last time the guys where together all members have publicly gone on record saying there was no possibility of this line up coming back together again and it certainly looked that way with the formation (or reformation) of Heaven & Hell with (late, great) Ronnie James Dio.
But since the death of Dio the cynics could well of been saying this news was only a matter of time, but fuck that! its sabbath!
As for new material, I'm not holding my breath the last offerings "Psycho man" and "Selling my soul" on the "reunion" album didn't exactly set the world alight but we'll have to wait and All most fans will care about is to have the opportunity to see the originators doing what they do best again live!
